Considerations before taking Lybrel
Some women who have experienced certain conditions are more at risk when taking oral contraceptives than others. Wyeth reccomends that Women should notify their health care professional and check back with them often if they have any of the following conditions:
- Breast nodules, fibrocystic disease of the breast, an abnormal breast X-ray or mammogram
- Diabetes
- Elevated cholesterol or triglycerides
- High blood pressure
- A tendency to form blood clots
- Migraine or other headaches or epilepsy
- Depression
- Gallbladder, liver, heart, or kidney disease
- History of scanty or irregular menstrual periods
In addition to the above risks, you should also notify your health care professional if you smoke or take other prescription medications, as they can also increase the risks associated with oral contraceptives.
